WINDOWS XP AUTO UPDATE FIX

Start - Run - services.msc

Stop the service, "automatic update"

browse to c:\windows\softwaredistribution <--- rename to softwaredistribution.old

Exit

Go back to start run services.msc and start the service back up and go to windows update page again.
